A 19-year-old transient was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly brandishing a knife and threatening to stab an apartment manager who tried the keep the suspect from trespassing onto his property, police said.
Stevan Skendzic and another man, Brian Benavides, were spotted by the victim from his apartment window in the 100 block of north Glendale Avenue at about 11 a.m., said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.
The victim, 55, recognized the two males as frequent trespassers and made his way to the building's front doors, Lightfoot said.
When he got there, he tried to tell Skendzic that he would not be allowed inside, she said.
Skendzic began cursing at the victim and allegedly pulled out a knife from a pants pocket and threatened to stab the victim, Lightfoot said.
Benavides remained outside on the sidewalk, she said. The victim then fled the scene.
Skendzic was located by police at Louise and Harvard streets with the knife in his possession, Lightfoot said.
He was arrested and charged on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was held on $30,000 bail.
Benavides was located at Glendale Avenue and Harvard Street, where officers determined he wasn't involved in the incident, however, he was still arrested on a warrant violation, Lightfoot said.
