Fountain Valley man critical after crash

A Fountain Valley man is in critical condition after suffering life-threatening injuries in a traffic collision, according to authorities.

Police responded to the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Ward Street in Fountain Valley about 7:30 a.m. Friday and found Jose Baez, 37, injured and unresponsive in his Honda sedan.

Baez's car collided with a Toyota sedan driven by a licensed minor who had two other minors as passengers, according to police.

The occupants of the Toyota were transported to a local hospital and were treated for minor injuries.

Police said the Toyota was heading east on Edinger and made a left turn onto Ward when it collided with Baez's Honda traveling west on Edinger.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to police.
