Drug use may have led to separate crashes, police say

Huntington Beach police have a message for residents, the department wrote on Facebook this weekend: Don't drive drunk — or while on drugs.

According to the social media post and department officials, two drivers suspected of being under the influence of drugs were arrested Sunday after each caused a bit of a commotion in separate instances.

William Terral Taylor, 52, of Huntington Beach rear-ended a vehicle in his black Scion, drove away and then struck a second car, perhaps on purpose, said Capt. Russ Reinhart.

Then, police say, Taylor got out of his car, stripped naked and ran toward the 405 Freeway onramp. The incident took place at about 10:20 a.m. on Beach Boulevard near Edinger Avenue.

Taylor was booked into Huntington Beach city jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, hit-and-run and driving under the influence of drugs, officials said.

Later Sunday, authorities said, Andrew Blake Jones, a 22-year-old Huntington Beach resident, was arrested after rolling through a red light on Bolsa Chica Road at McFadden Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. He then rear-ended a boat being towed by a car ahead of him, police said.

The vessel's outboard motor ended up lodged in the windshield of Jones' white truck. . He too was booked into Huntington Beach city jail, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Reinhart wouldn't speculate about which drugs each man had taken other than to say

officials believe that Taylor was on "some kind of stimulant" and the other driver "on some kind of depressant."

Neither incident caused any serious injuries, police said.
