Title games feature local flavor

District 62 championships will be on the line this weekend in three divisions as the 2013 Little League All-Stars tournament comes to a close.

The double-elimination event ends with Major, 9/10, and 8/9 division championship series taking place at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley.

Undefeated Huntington Valley will meet once-beaten Ocean View in the Major All-Star championship series. Opening game is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Field 15 at Mile Square Park. If necessary, a second game will be played at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Ocean View's 9/10 All-Star team move on to champ series after taking care of Seaview, 19-1, on Monday. Ocean View (3-0) will face Huntington Valley (2-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Field 14 at Mile Square Park. A second game between the teams, if necessary, will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The 8/9 district title will be decided between Ocean View (3-0) and Robinwood (2-1). The teams meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Field 13 at Mile Square Park. If a second game is needed, it will start at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Ocean View 10/11 All-Star team won the division championship Monday by blanking Huntington Valley, 11-0, at Mile Square Park. During the tournament, Ocean View outscored its three opponents, 32-2, with two shutouts.

The Ocean View 10/11 All-Stars are: Luke Adelman, Jag Burden, Jimmy Campbell, Anthony Capocciama, Lucas Catano, Sinjin Choi, Shane Hoodman, Noah Karliner, Zachary Lyons, Jared Manzo, Edward Pelc, Jared Reyes, Riley Shannon. Manager: Vince Manzo. Coaches: Mark Shannon, Randolph Karliner.

In the Junior All-Stars final Saturday, Fountain Valley took the title by defeating Huntington Valley, 10-2, at Huntington Beach High.

Ocean View previously won the Intermediate (50-70) division on June 23 following an 11-7 win at Westminster.

8/9 All-Stars

Ocean View 6, Robinwood 1: The dynamic pitching duo of AJ Hurtado and Chad Lux teamed up to throw a no-hitter Monday against Robinwood. The pair struck out 11 and walked four. Hurtado held Robinwood hitless for nearly five innings and finished with nine strikeouts and didn't allow an earned run.

Ocean View never gave up the lead after the third inning, scoring three runs on a two-run error on a hit by Lux and RBI single by Jimmy Legg. Ocean View scored three more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a passed ball where Jack Rockefeller scored, followed by a an RBI single by Lux that scored both Legg, who had singled, and Sam Cohn.

Strong defensive play by Cohn and Daniel Kotkosky in the top of the fifth helped Ocean View maintain its lead.

Robinwood scored its only run on an RBI ground out by Ethan Kang in the first inning.
