Briefs: HB NJB registration

Huntington Beach National Junior Basketball currently is accepting online registration. The cost ($175) for the early-bird session ends Thursday . The cost during a second registration period, which opens Friday and continues through through Sept. 30, is $200.

Huntington Beach NJB, a tradition since 1985, fields teams in grades K through eighth. League playoffs games will be held at the end of the regular season, and the chapter will put together all-star teams that will compete during the all-star season.

Youth swimming tryouts

Riptide Aquatics, a competitive age-group swimming and water polo club based out of Ocean View High School pool in Huntington Beach, will stage two open tryout dates, Saturday and Sept. 13, for competitive swimmers looking to join the club team.

Youth water polo camp

Riptide Aquatics will run a summer water polo youth swim camp beginning Monday. The camp runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday weekly through Aug. 28.

The camp is open to boys and girls grades fifth through eighth and no prior water polo knowledge or experience is necessary, but campers should know how to swim and be comfortable in the water.

Water polo rules, strategies and fundamentals will be taught at both camps.

The cost is $250 per camper per session and $400 for both camps.
