Approximately 2,000 patrons attended Young Musicians Foundation’s (YMF) 57th Annual Gala Concert on Jan. 15 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. The concert’s theme was “Celebrating the YMF Legacy.”

Five guest conductors led the YMF Debut Orchestra’s 70 musicians, ages 15-25, and 20-plus local alumni, through classical and contemporary compositions.

Renowned guest conductors included John Williams, Richard Kaufman, Teddy Abrams, Joey Newman and YMF alumnus Michael Tilson Thomas.

The organization’s Humanitarian Award was presented to Lawrence N. Field, founder and principal of NSB Associates and longtime YMF board member. David Weiss, YMF alumnus celebrating 50 years of involvement with the foundation, received its Living the Legacy Award.

All proceeds raised at the event will benefit children and youth ages 8-25 who receive music education, scholarships, pre-professional musical training and performance opportunities. Executive director of the foundation is Julia Gaskill of La Cañada Flintridge.
