Rescue in progress for injured hiker off Angeles Crest Highway

Share

Montrose Search and Rescue is currently working to extract an injured hiker from the Pleasant View Ridge Trail area.

The hiker suffered currently undetermined injuries when he fell from the trail at mile marker 62.5 on Angeles Crest Highway, according to Sgt. Randy Tuinstra of the Crescenta Valley Sherriff’s station.

A helicopter was used to locate the injured hiker, but a team on foot has been dispatched to extract him.

“They’ve located him, he’s alive, it’s not certain what his injuries are,” said Tuinstra.

The rescue team is currently hiking down to the injured hiker, which is slow going as he’s a ways off the trail, said Tuinstra.

Tuinstra said that the hiker was with a friend when he slipped and fell off the trail, suffering his injuries. The friend hiked out to Newcomb’s Ranch and called for rescue at around 3 p.m.
