Carrie Cramer had already built a successful career styling Hollywood celebrities, musicians and reality stars for a number of television programs.

Used to working like a dog, she was then inspired by a few canines, including her own schnauzer, Atticus, to try another career offshoot.

That would be designing necklaces that feature the cutout of a dog silhouette hanging from a chain.

The Orange County native, who grew up in Newport Beach and now lives in Hermosa Beach, had a natural leaning toward fashion and style.

After graduating from Irvine’s University High School, she found a place in the hard-to-break-into entertainment industry, helping to dress contestants on “The Bachelor,” “Rock of Love with Bret Michaels” and “Flavor of Love” (yes, she designed the clock necklaces Flavor Flav dangled from his neck) to currently styling comedian Daniel Tosh for his show, “Tosh.0.”

At one point she was doing personal shopping for clients and working as a stylist for four television shows at a time. But Cramer still found time to design custom jewelry pieces with a jeweler friend.

As she gravitated to this new interest, she wondered if creating jewelry could become the next venture to augment her styling career of 20 years.

The answer hit her one day when she arrived home and looked at her wall.

Hung in frames were prints of a French bulldog and a schnauzer — no, not Atticus, who served instead as Cramer’s real-life inspiration.

Their profiles, she thought, could be made into necklaces.

She shared her concept and prototypes with her jeweler friend and created a website with a graphic designer.

That was last January. In July, Cramer launched Carrie Cramer Fine Jewelry.

Each piece, handcrafted in Los Angeles by the friend who was with her from the start, is offered in sterling silver, 14-karat gold, yellow gold and an all-over pave, ranging in prices from $195 to $2,500. Sales are online only.

There are English bulldogs, boxers, Labrador retrievers, huskies, poodles, golden retrievers, Chihuahuas and terriers.

Can’t find a furry four-legged friend? Cramer has a custom silhouette option and has made a horse and cat as well. She also offers a unicorn.

“It makes me feel happy because people will tell me they can wear their pet close to their heart,” Cramer said. “I’ve gotten great reaction.”

So much so, that comedian Chelsea Handler wears a custom piece on her late-night talk show, television host and media personality Sharon Osbourne wears a Pomeranian necklace and Lauren Bushnell from “The Bachelor” wears the line’s “Monte” design, which was inspired by a French bulldog but also resembles a Boston Terrier or Frenchton.

Cramer said she has plans to add seven more breeds by the end of the year, including a Scottie, Doberman and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Many of her clients are men buying pieces for their wives as the wives show them her site, she said, but most of the line’s attraction comes from Instagram, where she has garnered more than 7,000 followers in less than five months.

Jerrod Blandino, co-founder and chief creative officer of Too Faced Cosmetics, posted a picture of himself wearing a necklace in honor of his dog, Clover, to his 137,000 Instagram followers.

Cramer said she has received orders from all over the world and has since talked to customers about their pets in email communication. Customers will send her pictures of their dogs and share with her why their pet is beloved.

Since creating the line, Cramer said she is trying to get more involved in dog rescue organizations, perhaps donating silent auction items that help raise money for canine care. Cramer said she donates a percentage of the proceeds to animal and environmental charities, which she added will grow at the company grows.

As for Atticus, the main inspiration behind the collection?

“He loves my husband more than me,” Cramer said with a laugh.
