The Wings never trailed in the contest, and held off a late surge by the Blizzard to seal the win. Aberdeen led 3-1 through two periods before Justin Moody’s goal with 2:08 left closed the gap to one goal.
Aberdeen’s Jordan Heller opened the scoring, tallying a goal with just over minutes gone in the first period. Brookings tied the game six minutes later, but the Wings retook the lead on a goal from Peter Krieger less than a minute later.
The Wings padded their lead as Justin Parizek scored to push the margin to 3-1 heading to the third period.
Aberdeen improved to 5-9 with the win, while the Blizzard, who are second in the Central Division, fell to 10-4 with the loss. Austin leads the division with a 10-2-1 mark. The teams meet again at 7:15 p.m. tonight at the Odde Ice Center.
