The Edmunds County 4-H Recognition Night was held Sunday, Nov. 4 at the 4-H Building in Ipswich. Thirty-five members along with their families attend the event. The awards ceremony started at 4 p.m. followed by a potluck supper. The Leaders Association then sponsored the movie Madagascar 3 and served pop and popcorn. The 4-H members, leaders, and friends of 4-H were honored for their accomplishments and contributions. Jeff Mueller, 4-H Youth Program Advisor welcomed all to the event. The flag pledges were led by Achievement Day King and Queen Austin Weisser and Kayla Perrion.
4-H graduation awards were presented to Rachel Fuhrmann, Carson Gramm, Kayla Perrion, Megan Pond, Megan Sandmeier, and Austin Weisser. Kayla Perrion, Megan Sandmeier, and Austin Weisser also received scholarships from the Leaders Association.
The Danforth award was presented to three juniors that showed good leadership qualities. Heather Fuhrmann, Cassius Pond, and April Waldner received this award.
The Meritorious Award was presented to Amy Duvall for her many hours given to the 4-H Program and Leader's Association. The 4-H Alumni Award went to Alex Jung. Jeannette Lunders was added to the OE Prestegard Memorial Plaque. This plaque honors people who died while serving 4-H members. The Busy Bowdle Starts received a community service certificate.
Five leaders received special recognition for their years of service as club leaders and members of the Leaders Association. Carole Curtis and Amy Duvall received a 10 year certificate and gold clover pin. Jess Olivier, Todd Holtz, and Cassie Holtz received a 5 year certificate and silver pin. Other leaders recognized for their years of service were Karen Wagner 3 years, Allene Eisenbeisz 49 years, Pat & Sherrie Forkel 9 years, Fran & Gary Ulmer 5 years, Janet Fuhrmann 4 years, Janice Perrion 13 years, Emily Kadlec 10 years, Carol Pond 11 years, Heidi Sylte 5 years, Becky Nierman 5 years, Leslie Braun 6 years, Wendi Gilbert 7 years, Scott Kilber 3 years, Angie Kulesa 1 year, Monica Petersen 18 years, Russ & Collette Maier 9 years, and John & Stephanie Jung 2 years.
Individual honors for the Ken's Food Fair Citizenship Awards were Kayla Perrion-1st place, Lynae Petersen-2nd place, and Payton Eisenbeisz-3rd place. First place club award went to Wily Wizards and second place to Busy Bowdle Stars.
Project medals were received by Austin Weisser for Beef, Poultry, Rabbit, and Sheep, and Bryce Beitelspacher for Healthy Living, Horticulture, and Public Speaking. Bryce also received the SD Soybean Association Award. Payton Eisenbeisz received the SD Beef Industry Council Award. Chesney Olivier received two differed Livestock Industry trust Fund Awards for her Swine Ultrasound. Cole Holtz received the SD Gelbvieh Junior Association Award. CorTrust Bank Awards were presented to the 4th place Visual Arts Judging top three members Andrew Fuhrmann, Kaylee Braun, and Payton Eisenbeisz.

Edmunds County received 2nd Place State Fair Herdsmanship Honors in beef and certificates were presented to Bryce Beitelspacher, Cody Forkel, and Lane Forkel. They also received 1st Place State Fair Herdsmanship Honors in Sheep with certificates going to Haylee Kilber, Tessa Kilber, Hannah Toennies, and Myra Toennies. Beef Showmanship Awards went to Cole Holtz. Sheep Showmanship went to Myra Toennies. Rabbit Showmanship went to Rieley Maier.

Jade Maier was recognized for qualifying for the State Finals Rodeo in Saddle Bronc, Calf Roping, and Team Roping. Rieley Maier was also recognized for qualifying for the State Finals Rodeo in Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying. Bryce Beitelspacher, Payton Eisenbeisz and Josie Sylte received the Bev Wright Jr. Fashion Awards. First year shooting sports pins went to Jordan Nierman, Jacob Nierman in
archery, and Claire Beyers, Elliot Beyers, Emma Beyers, Ben Kulesa, Avery Sylte and Josie Sylte in BB Gun. These pins are received for qualifying and shooting at the state meet in Ft. Pierre. Medallions for high point scores were received by Lezlie Hauck-Beginning Archery, Jacob Nierman-Junior Archery, Jacob Klueber-Senior Archery, Elliot Beyers-Beginning BB Gun, Ben Kulesa-Jr BB Gun, and Casey Duvall-Sr. Shotgun.
