After a successful launch in 2010, the Danville Lawn Chair Film Festival is back. Because of the success of its first year, the event moved from September to May 20 to kick off the Heart of Danville’s Lawn Chair Theater Summer Movie Series.
The festival gives budding filmmakers the opportunity to see their films shown on a large outdoor movie screen and in front of a crowd. Last year, more than 150 people attended the festival and saw the selected entries.
The planning committee made several changes and additions to the 2011 festival, including:
* The Lawn Chair Challenge — Filmmakers are given several elements they must incorporate into their short films. This will allow them to be creative and have a lot of fun.
* Cell Action Challenge — In this new category, filmmakers must make a short film shot entirely on mobile devices.
* Filmmakers will now submit their films digitally by sending a link to YouTube or a similar website.
* Improved Categories
* More awards.
Anyone interested may contact Film Festival Executive Director Charlie Cox with questions.
The festival will begin at 9:30 p.m. and entries are due by May 6. For more information visit http://betterindanville.com/Visiting-Here-Film-Festival.aspx, or follow The Lawn Chair Film Festival on Facebook or Twitter.
