AARP volunteers to help seniors file taxes
AARP volunteers are preparing taxes for senior citizens at the Harrodsburg and Danville senior citizen centers.
At the Harrodsburg Senior Citizens Center volunteers will be available 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday. Call (859) 734-5185 to schedule an appointment. The center is at 1275 Louisville Road.
At the Danville Senior Citizens Center, volunteers will be available 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday. Call (859) 236-2070 to schedule an appointment. The center is at 569 Jean Drive.
DHS¿Forensics Senior spotlight
The Danville High School Forensics Team is having the first of two Senior Night Spotlights 7 p.m. Friday in Gravely Hall at Danville High School, when six seniors will perform. This is a free event.
Senior Jono Beto will host five fun performances from Wright Williams, Joe Weston, John Thompson, Jordyn Perry and Waylon Duff. Writings by local authors will be featured, including selections from “The Common Man” written by prize-winning poet Maurice Manning and “The Great Gruesome Oogalaboogala” by DHS graduate Jon Kurtz.
The second Senior Night Spotlight will be 7 p.m. March 6 in Gravely Hall. Seniors Isabelle Ballard, Dylan Crow, Nate Johnson, Madeline Salinas, Marc Manheim, Taylor Hesselbach and Drew Lane will perform.
Boyle and Mercer counties Joint Jail Committee — 2 p.m. Friday at Boyle County Detention Center. Items on the agenda include: the jailer’s report; service contract on Savin 3803C Shredder; January financial statement; and January claims paid.
