Camp Nelson National Cemetery to unveil marker
NICHOLASVILLE — Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville will host an unveiling and dedication ceremony of an interpretative marker for Maj. Gen. William “Bull” Nelson at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery administrative building, 6980 Danville Road, Nicholasville.
Keynote speaker will be State Rep. Brent Yonts, who is chairman of the Kentucky Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission. Other guests include Commander Don Colon of the Kentucky Dept. of Sons of Union Veterans; and Paula White, President of Battle of Richmond Association.
Boyle marching band hosting competition
The Boyle County High School Marching Band is hosting a band competition tomorrow at the Boyle County High School Football Stadium.
Bands in attendance will be Danville, Anderson County, Garrard County, Mercer County, North Oldham, John Hardin and Paul Lawrence Dunbar.
The opening ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. and the first band to perform, Danville, will be at 1:30 p.m.
