Bernice “Bea” Klapat Jelenc, widow of Anthony Jelenc, died June 17, 2011.
Born April 19, 1910, in Racine, Wis., she was the daughter of Anton and Eva Lakovich Klapat.
Bea graduated from Racine High School in 1928 and the University of Wisconsin in 1932, where she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha sorority and Sigma Delta Pi (Honorary Spanish Sorority). Bea was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and received the honor of becoming a Kentucky Colonel on her 100th birthday.
Survivors include her daughters, Peg Richardson of Santa Clara, Calif., and Linda Foreman of Pacifica, Calif.; and grandchildren, Tony Foreman of Berkeley, Calif., Evan Richardson of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Alison Richardson of San Jose, Calif.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Everyone is welcome to attend a reception in the church hall following the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Racine, Wis.
