LANCASTER — Glenna "Ciddy" Castle, 65, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Glenna was preceded in death by her parents, William and Christine McQuerry. She retired from the Garrard County School System as a food service manager and worked many years for the Christian Appalachian Project. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Jerry Castle; two sons, Keith (Meagan) Castle and Robbie (Beth) Castle, both of Crab Orchard; a daughter, Tina (Craig) Espeland of Montana; two grandchildren, MacKenzie Espeland and Molley Castle; a great-grandchild, Caylee Espeland-Morales; two bothers, Gordan (Hope) McQuerry and Jerry (Ann) McQuerry, both of Lancaster; and six sisters, Wanda (Jimmy) Flynn of Crab Orchard, Mildred (Joe) Purcell of Lancaster, Margaret Lee (O'Neal) Huffman of Dayton, Ohio, Virginia (Smokey) Simpson of Lancaster, Lorettta (Barney) Parker of Paint Lick, and Boots (Mike) Whitaker of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Martin, Huston, Ross and David McQuerry.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jody Stamper and Stephen Brogli officiating. Burial will be in the Castle Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Byron McQuerry, Jameson Flynn, Brian Castle, Kevin Murphy, Clinton McQuerry and Mike Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimbo Flynn, Jason Denny, Leslie Castle, Stephen McQuerry, Doug Simpson and Ross McQuerry.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012.
