PERRYVILLE — Nell Meeks Davis died July 10, 2011, at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.
Born May 4, 1930, in Mississippi, she lived in Hawaii, Indiana, Alabama, and for the past 32 years in Brentwood, Tenn. She had lived in Perryville, Ky., one year. The third daughter of Howard and Eugenia Meeks of Tupelo, Miss., she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Eleanor.
Nell is survived by her husband, Dr. Douglas Davis; two sons, Douglas III (Sharon) of Perryville and Dennis (Ruth) of Franklin, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Lindsey, Evan and Valeria. She also is survived by one sister, Ruth Shappley of Corinth, Miss.
A 1948 graduate of Tupelo High School, Nell attended Freed-Hardeman University. She was a student of art at Indiana University and the University of Alabama. Nell served as a research associate in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology at Indiana University. Multi-talented, she was an accomplished musician, painter and writer.
Nell and her husband have been members of Westend Church of Christ in Danville.
Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville is in charge of the memorial service, scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Westend Church.
