PERRYVILLE — Allen Stewart Glasscock, 84, of Perryville died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, in Perryville. He was the husband of Wilma Best Glasscock.
Born April 20, 1927, in Marion County, he was a son of the late Chafe and Nancy Cleo Stewart Glasscock.
Stewart was a retired shipping supervisor for American Greeting Corp., and a Marine veteran serving during World War ll. He attended Perryville Baptist Church, was a charter member of Battlefield American Legion Post No. 301, and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Stewart loved farming and simply just watching the cattle graze. In his younger years, he loved boating and water skiing. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida at least twice a year.
In addition to his wife Wilma, he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Lynn and Bobby Purdom of Lexington and Sharon and Richard Jones of Harrodsburg; one son and his wife, Jeffrey Allen and Sherry Glasscock of Perryville; four grandchildren, Brett Jones, Giles and Reed Glasscock and Lindsley Purdom. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Helm and Louise Lannum.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Wilder Funeral Home by the Revs. Doug Davis and Micky Anders. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Giles and Reed Glasscock, Brett Jones, Lindsley Purdom, Mike Harmon, Larry Lannum and Ritchie Zaeh.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Daugherty, Marion White, Bobby Joe Ellis, David Lannum and Bruce Helm.
Visiting hours are 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
