3. 'Snow White''s Kristen Stewart says interviews are (gasp!) fun

Kristen Stewart, like many celebrities, isn't particularly fond of doing interviews. But the 22-year-old is so press-averse that her discomfort during talk shows has often been physically noticeable: She stutters, taps her foot ferociously or avoids eye contact.

  17. Elizabeth Warren's cheekbones

The contretemps over whether Elizabeth Warren is really an American Indian has gone from the ridiculous to the ridiculous. Warren is the blond, blue-eyed, ultra-liberal Harvard law professor running for Republican Sen. Scott Brown's seat in Massachusetts. Despite a complete lack of evidence outside of "family lore" and "high cheekbones," she listed herself as a "minority" professor in a law faculty directory for some years. Documentation showing Warren to be 1/32 Cherokee — that is, having a Cherokee great-great-great-grandfather — turned out not to exist.

  19. Behind the barbed wire of California's prisons

Until 1996, members of the news media could conduct one-on-one interviews with inmates in California prisons, giving the public a deeper understanding of what went on behind the barbed wire. This did not please the administration of Republican Gov. Pete Wilson, which was disgusted by the way some inmates abused this privilege to promote themselves — calling in to radio talk shows to complain about their treatment, or appearing on TV to plug their books or movie deals. So reporters were barred from holding in-person interviews.
