1. Chicagoland book club: Naperville area AAUW

One thing to know about your book club: Our book club has been an activity offered to members of the Naperville Area Branch of the American Association of University Women for about 30 years. We take turns meeting in our homes, reviewing and discussing interesting books and eating fabulous desserts. New members are always welcome. For more information about joining AAUW and our book group, go to aauw-il.org/naperville. Being a part of this group has opened many doors for members in that we have discovered many books and topics that we may not have found on our own.

5. CELEBRITY TRAVELER JOHN GROGAN

When John Grogan wrote "Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog," he knew he had written a good book. But he didn't realize he had written a book that would become a phenomenon. The tale of Grogan's naughty but lovable dog not only spawned a movie but also a series of children's books starring the irrepressible Labrador retriever. Grogan's latest kids tome, "Marley and the Kittens" (HarperCollins), hits bookstores April 27. Calling from his home in Coopersville, Pa., the 53-year-old author fills us in on his favorite stomping grounds.

13. Movie review: Marley & Me -- 2 out of 5 stars

Orlando Sentinel Movie Critic
It's a relief that Marley & Me, the film of John Grogan's a newspaperman-and-his-dog memoir, isn't better. That's obvious as the weepy third act unfolds. Whatever tears director David Frankel, stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston and a very cute dog,...

Excuse us for a moment. We're on hold while John Grogan runs down to the basement. Duty is calling. In this case, "duty" is Woodson, the "Marley & Me" author's newest four-legged family member. For some reason, the 9-month-old, housebroken yellow Lab...
