Ravens Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata is active despite his right knee and right shoulder injuries, but he began today's game against the Oakland Raiders on the sidelines at M&T Bank Stadium.
Rookie defensive tackle DeAngelo Tyson started in Ngata's place. It is Tyson's first NFL start. Ngata had started every game this season until now.
Ngata's impact has been limited to two tackles over the past two games since getting hurt against the Dallas Cowboys, failing to record a tackle for the second time in his career against the Cleveland Browns a week ago.
Tyson is a seventh-round draft pick from Georgia.
Cornerback Corey Graham started at cornerback opposite Cary Williams with usual starter Jimmy Smith riding the stationary bike in the bench area.
Smith is active, but has been bothered by a groin injury for weeks.
