Five of the seven players who sat out the Ravens’ 17-point victory over the New York Jets almost two weeks ago returned to practice Wednesday – albeit on a limited basis.
That included two starters in wide receiver Lee Evans (left ankle) and left guard Ben Grubbs (strained ligaments in right toe). Rounding out that group were inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (hamstring), free safety Haruki Nakamura (right posterior cruciate ligament) and wide receiver/kick returner David Reed (left shoulder strain).
Tom Zbikowski, who is dealing with symptoms stemming from a concussion that knocked him out of the game against the Jets, was limited. Rookie running back Anthony Allen (thigh) was also limited.
Cornerbacks Chris Carr (left hamstring) and rookie Jimmy Smith (high left ankle sprain) did not practice.
Sunday’s opponent, the Houston Texans, listed 18 players on the injury report. The most notable name to sit out practice outside of starting wide receiver Andre Johnson (right hamstring) and fullback James Casey (strained pectoral) was quarterback Matt Schaub (right shoulder).
The list of players who practiced on a limited basis included four starters in running back Arian Foster (quad), inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans (elbow, hamstring, knee), defensive end Antonio Smith (ankle) and right guard Mike Brisiel (ankle, knee). Backup running backs Ben Tate (groin, Achilles) and Derrick Ward (ankle) were also limited.
Two starters who participated fully were wide receiver Jacoby Jones (knee) and cornerback Kareem Jackson (knee). Reserve cornerback Jason Allen (knee, groin) also practiced fully.
