Vision, hearing screenings
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health provides in-school vision and hearing screenings to students in public schools for children in preschool, kindergarten, first and eighth grade and for students new to Anne Arundel County schools. Students in the following schools will be screened in November.
•Annapolis Elementary, Nov. 26.
•Glen Burnie Park Elementary, Glendale Elementary, Nov. 27 and 28.
•The Phoenix Center of Annapolis, Nov. 28.
•Hilltop Elementary, Southern Middle, Nov. 29 and 30.

The Department of Health will provide seasonal flu vaccinations at the following walk-in clinics. Both nasal-spray and injectable vaccinations will be available.
•Glen Burnie Health Center, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays, 416 A St. S.W., Glen Burnie. Information: 410-222-6633.

Men's health kits
The Learn to Live program of the Department of Health offers free men's health kits with information on prostate health and colorectal cancer screening, as well as the HIM magazine, which includes information on sun safety, smoking, nutrition and other men's health tips. The Department of Health's alcohol and drug abuse prevention and education services have been awarded a Maryland grant of $31,132, which will aid in programs to reduce underage drinking. Grant target areas are Brooklyn Park, Curtis Bay, Glen Burnie and Pasadena. Information: Sandy Smolnicky, prevention specialist, 410-222-6724.
Living with diabetes
The University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology will discuss simple nutrition and exercise changes to achieve weight loss, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and prevent diabetes. Classes will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 26; 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5; 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Nov. 15 and Dec. 14 in Suite 119 in the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, 301 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie.
