Maryland State Police Homicide officials on Tuesday said they have identified victims in Monday's triple shooting in Port Deposit that also left the suspected gunman injured.
A statement issued Tuesday by the State Police said that one of the victims, Timothy S. Hammons, 48, of the 200 block of Craigstown Road in Port Deposit, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, Eileen L. Roland, 56, of the 2400 block of Philadelphia Road in Edgewood, suffered a gunshot wound and was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center by a State Police helicopter with life-threatening injuries.
Police did not release the identity of the suspect due to its ongoing investigation. They said the suspect was found nearby with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was transported to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del., with life-threatening injuries.
Police said that around 7:30 p.m., on Monday, troopers from the North East Barrack responded to a 911 call stating that shots had been fired at a residence. Upon arrival, troopers found Roland on the front porch with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, the statement said. Once inside the residence, troopers found Hammons on the floor, having been shot in the upper torso. Police said that due to interviews from the investigation they believe that during a heated argument the suspect shot both victims and fled the scene. The case is still under investigation, and the Cecil County State's Attorney's Office has been notified.
