It's Made Tortilla Chips For Years, Now Hartford Bakery Is Selling Salsa

HARTFORD — A North End bakery known for its wide variety of organic tortilla chips is releasing its own brand of salsa. Severance Foods Inc., on Main Street, introduced its Pan De Oro Salsa brand at the Coventry Regional Farmers Market Sunday. "It's a very important part of the branding," said Rick Stevens, brand manager at Severance. "People are more likely if they see a Pan De Oro chip, for whatever reason, to buy a Pan De Oro salsa." Severance generally produces tortilla chips for companies like Trader Joe's, but since opening in 1984, it also has sold its own brand of chips called Pan De Oro.
