A Morton Grove man died in a crash on Interstate 90/94 night near the Montrose Avenue exit, according to the Illinois State Police.

A 1998 Toyota Carry-All heading north on the Kennedy Expressway was merging right at a high rate of speed and lost control Thursday evening about 10 p.m., police said.

The car hit a guard rail and rolled north down the Kennedy Expressway, ejecting the driver, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the man was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified him as Sean Mitchell, of the 9200 block of North Harlem Avenue.

One of the Toyota's tires came off and hit another car, causing damage, police said.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to the scene but didn't transport anyone to area hospitals, said Firefighter Meg Ahlheim, a department spokeswoman.
