Chicago-based Lexington Homes will break ground this summer on Lexington Place, a new single-family home development in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood.
The nine-home development will include two floor plans with 2,000 to 2,300 square feet and base prices starting at $459,000.
The houses will provide three or four bedrooms, 21/2 bathrooms, separate living and dining rooms, eat-in kitchens, two-car garages and basements. Options include additional bedrooms and bathrooms. Measuring 147 feet deep, the lots will include generous backyards, the developer said.
"There aren't many new single-family home communities opening up anywhere, much less in the city," said Jeff Benach, co-principal of Lexington Homes. "This is an exceptional opportunity for buyers looking for a family-sized home with a yard and all the luxuries of single-family living, along with the convenience of being so close to downtown and other local attractions."
Proximity toU.S. Cellular Fieldwill be a selling point, Benach said.
The brick homes will feature 42-inch maple cabinets and stainless steel appliances in the kitchens, granite vanities in the kitchens and bathrooms and hardwood flooring on the main levels.
The sales center is temporarily located at the Lexington Square2 development at 3630 S. Sangamon St. The office is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Epcon Communities has unveiled its new two-bedroom, two-bath Portico model at Fox Run in Plainfield, a development of maintenance-free, single-family ranch homes.
The base price of the 1,755-square-foot home is $219,990. It includes a den, private courtyard, covered patio and a 21/2-car attached garage. A sliding-glass door in the dining room leads to the courtyard. Tray ceilings highlight the living and dining rooms and master bedroom. The kitchen features a pantry, GE appliances and an island. The master bedroom suite has a walk-in closet, dual-bowl vanity and a shower with a bench.
Base prices at all Fox Run homes include laundry rooms and air conditioning.
The Portico is one of three detached-home floor plans in Fox Run that start at $204,990 to $229,990.
Fox Run also includes attached ranch villas clustered in groups of four. They provide 1,137 to 1,886 square feet of living space and are priced from $179,990 to $219,990.
Resident amenities include an outdoor swimming pool and clubhouse.
"Fox Run is popular among both working professionals and retirees," said sales manager Kelly Hurst. "The common thread is the maintenance-free aspect. They don't want to spend their free time mowing grass and shoveling snow."
The sales center, at 16651 S. Fox Run Circle, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
