Breaking The Mold

Molds from the Thompson Chocolate Factory, a 100+ year old Connecticut company in Meriden, are displayed in the saleroom for visitors to see. Thompson makes chocolate santas, bunnies, cigars, coins and other novelty chocolates which it sells under its own name and packages for other huge companies. A retired CEO of Godiva Chocolates is trying to give it a boost, using social media and blogs to get the word out. Their best seller is Adora, a chocolate nutritional supplement that supplies Vitamin D and calcium in a 30 calorie chocolate wafer. Photo by JOHN WOIKE | woike@courant.com.
