PITTSBURGH -- United States Steel Corp. announced that Michael S. Rhoads has been appointed vice president and general director of U.S. Steel Serbia effective July 1.
Rhoads, who currently serves as executive director — operations in Serbia, will succeed Matthew B. Perkins, who will be returning to the United States to serve as general manager of Gary Works in Gary, Ind.

Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he was hired as a staff associate at Clairton and progressed through a series of increasingly responsible positions at the facility.
A native of Rockwood, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. In 2002 he obtained his master's degree in business administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Heather, and their children will remain in the Republic of Serbia.
