The Daily American's first virtual town hall meeting with a congressional candidate is set for 6 p.m. Monday.
The newspaper is hosting the meetings to help voters get to know the candidates. Congressional candidates who will appear on the fall ballot will meet with the newspaper's staff. A live feed of the meeting will appear online at dailyamerican.com. Links on the home page will direct people to the live stream. After the event the videos will be uploaded to the website and will be available to view until the Nov. 6 election.
Republican 12th Congressional District candidate Keith Rothfus will take part in the first meeting Monday. Democratic U.S. Rep. Mark Critz is scheduled to appear on Wednesday.
Karen Ramsburg, the Democratic nominee in the 9th Congressional District, is slated for Oct. 17. The Daily American is still working to schedule U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster.
During the feed viewers can ask questions by sending them via Twitter by adding #dailyamerican to the question. The Daily American's Facebook page will also have a post on which viewers can leave a comment with a question. The Daily American encourages people to send questions during the feed.
Readers can submit questions ahead of the forums. Questions can be addressed to an individual candidate or to all of the candidates. Some questions may also be used in a series of news charts that will be published closer to the election.
Anyone wishing to submit a question can contact Michelle Ganassi by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, by phone at 814-444-5943 or by mail at 334 W. Main St., Somerset PA 15501. Questions can also be dropped off at the newspaper office.
