Forrest Alan Stitely, 35, Susan Michelle Stitely, 33, and their children, Megan Sierra Stitely, 10, and Brooke Elaina Stitely, 8, all of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Leeper, died early Friday morning, July 22, 2011, at Rothrock State Forest in Logan Township, in a tragic fire in their cabin, where they were vacationing. Forrest Alan Stitely, born June 24, 1976, in Somerset, is the son of Donald and Diana Miller Stitely of Vowinckel. He graduated from North Clarion High School in 1995. Forrest worked for the Department of Forestry in Huntingdon. He enjoyed his family, camping, hunting and fishing. On July 23, 1995, Forrest married the former Susan Michelle Gill and she also perished in the fire. In addition to his parents, Forrest, is survived by a sister, Stephanie Hauserman and her husband, David of Leeper and their daughter, Emily; and maternal grandmother, Kathryn Lape of Berlin, formerly of Gray. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Foster Lape of Gray; and paternal grandparents, Leonard and June Stitely of Ligonier. He is survived by the following aunts and uncles: Larry Stitely of Jennerstown; Donald (Carol) Miller of Milwaukee, Wis.; Rick (Bernice) Lape of Gray; Larry (Dottie) Lape of Cumberland, Md.; and Cindy (Tim) Berkey of Boswell; and cousins: Missy (Kaitlyn and Courtney) Anderson and Cory Stitely; Randy (Stacey and Jacob) and Wayne Miller; Brittaney, Scarlet and Abby Haburcsak; Ben (and Mason) and Corey Lape, David, Crystal and Renee’; and Aaron Berkey. Susan Michelle Stitely, born Oct. 26, 1977, in Lewistown, was the daughter of James and RuthAnn Varner Gill of Tylersburg. She graduated from North Clarion High School in 1995. Susan worked in the pharmacy at Huntingdon Walmart, where she was a Pharmacy Tech. She had written three books. She also enjoyed camping with her family. In addition to her parents, Susan is survived by a brother, James E. Gill III and his wife, Casandra of Mifflintown, and three sisters, Patricia Gill of Tylersburg, Christina Heck and her husband, Richard of Port Royal, and Bobbi Jo Gill of Clarion. Megan Sierra Stitely, was born Dec. 26, 2000, in State College. She was in the fourth grade at Jackson-Miller Elementary in Huntingdon. Brooke Elaina Stitely, was born May 12, 2003, in State College. She was in second grade at Jackson-Miller Elementary in Huntingdon. Both girls loved the outdoors and their dog, Roscoe, who also died in the fire. The family attended Tylersburg United Methodist Church, when they lived in the area. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Cutright Funeral Home, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon. Visitation and a funeral service will be announced at a later date. The Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper is in charge of arrangements.
