CAPE CHARLES—Looking for a weekend getaway? Bay Creek Resort and Club on the Eastern Shore is reviving its dinner train.The Bay Creek Railway is a restored 1913 Interurban railcar that operates round-trip dining excursions from Cape Charles.The two-hour event leaves from the station on Mason Avenue and travels to Eastville then returns to Cape Charles. The summer schedule offers lunch service at 1 p.m. Saturdays and dinners at 6:30 or 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through September. The dining car, which seats 30 passengers, also is available for charter groups and special events.On board, guests are served a four-course meal featuring corn and crab chowder, Caesar salad, and a choice of jumbo lump crab cakes, roasted lemon and rosemary chicken or pan seared pork chop with bourbon and caramelized onion confit. Dessert is key lime pie.Cost is $55 for dinner and $25 for lunch. A special children’s menu is available for $15.The Bay Creek Railway renovation was begun in 2006 and completed in 2008. It¿s billed as the only restored dining car in operation in the United States.If you¿re heading over there for dinner, consider booking a room at one of the many B&Bs in Cape Charles.
