7. Gwyneth Paltrow's stylist defends sheer 'Iron Man' premiere gown

The gown that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the world premiere of "Iron Man 3" last week in L.A. has gotten a lot of buzz, mostly negative. The Antonio Berardi dress is boat-necked with bell sleeves, but it was the skirt that got all the attention, with sheer panels revealing the sides of Paltrow's body from the top of her hip to her ankle. Now the actress' stylist Elizabeth Saltzman defends the choice to Us Weekly, calling the dress "elegant," and saying it showed spirit -- as well as the fruits of Paltrow's labors at the gym. [Us Weekly]

  9. Rita Ora gets mousy for Elle. Really.

Chanteuse Rita Ora is featured on two of the alternate covers for Elle's Women in Music issue for May. On one, she's dressed in posh pink Chanel Haute Couture with a headpiece by Ken O'Rourke. On the other, she wears Calvin Klein (though I can't see it in the photo above) -- with Mickey Mouse-type ears courtesy of hat-maker Philip Treacy. [Elle]

  13. 'Follow Her Home' to Marlowe territory

Raymond Chandler is among the undisputed masters of crime fiction, especially for stories set on the mean Southern California streets. His influence on crime fiction helped expand the genre's settings from sunny vicarages to gritty urban centers, set a high standard for using place as character, made the witty observation de rigueur and gave a new twist to the term "gimlet-eyed."

  17. Marie and Kelly Gray's new collection Grayse

Mother-daughter designing duo Marie and Kelly Gray are back in business together with a new label called Grayse, eight years after stepping down from their day-to-day duties at St. John when a private equity firm bought the company and cleaned house in a rebranding effort that famously also involved hiring Angelina Jolie as spokesmodel and alienating hordes of loyal customers.
