  1. The Land of ooohs for back to school fashion

Baby hipsters and BFFs Kaylee Vega and Madi Spadaro, both 13 and from Redondo Beach, are navigating the South Bay Galleria in Torrance with shark-like aggression. They've been saving pocket money all summer, and now, just weeks before school starts at the end of August, they're hitting the mall, determined to put together the most fabulous possible wardrobe for fall 2012. After all, no one wants to start the new semester looking "awkward" (Vega and Spadaro's word du jour).

  3. Indie rock star Jennifer Herrema pairs with Volcom on jeans collection

Denim and rock 'n' roll go hand in hand, so it makes sense that indie rock goddess Jennifer Herrema would eventually come out with her own jeans collection, a series of patched-up, skinny-fit, shred-to-hell designs that blend two unlikely extremes: high-fashion and "hesher" culture (hesher being a slang term for music fans of the raggedy-haired, headbanger variety). Think Brigitte Bardot meets cult film "Heavy Metal Parking Lot," and you get the picture.
