Shooting at Delaware State University injures student

A student was shot and injured Monday at a Delaware State University residence hall, and the attacker is at large, officials said.

The shooting occurred after 4 p.m. Eastern time in the parking lot of the school’s Living and Learning Commons building, a former Sheraton hotel near the campus, university spokesman Carlos Holmes told the Los Angeles Times.

The victim, a male student, had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Holmes said. A suspect has not been identified, he said.

The campus went on lockdown after the shooting. The lockdown was lifted about 7:15 p.m., after “police determined that the threat no longer existed,”...
