5. Film review: 'Melancholia' never felt so good

Lars von Trier has long rivaled Hamlet as the most melancholy of melancholy Danes. With “Melancholia,” his new film, he makes it official.

11. 'Battleship' review: Mind-numbingly entertaining

*** (out of four)
*** (out of four) If you think stupidity is an automatic movie deal-breaker, don't see an action spectacle about aliens attacking military vessels that's thinly based on a board game. Entertainment doesn't always require smarts, though, and the...

13. 'Battleship': Board game, bored viewers ✭ 1/2

15. Film review: 'Battleship' should be sunk

My mom used to make a home version of the game "Battleship" for me and my brother. She would draw the 10-by10 grids on paper, and we'd put down Xs for misses and Os for hits. She knew that she didn't need to spend 10 bucks on a plastic "Battleship" game.

17. Battleship

Mr. Board was bored watching a movie based on a board game. Although I think it’s false to keep stating in reviews and press releases that this is based on the Hasboro game. It’s an alien invasion film with battleships. Other than missiles shaped similar to the game pieces, this has nothing to do with the game; unless my memory from playing it with my brother 30 years ago is wrong. We’d merely yell out “F8,” and we’d hear “hit” or “miss.”
