“A Raisin in the Sun,” Lorraine Hansberry’s prize-winning drama, was named best revival of a play at the 68th Tony Awards, presented Sunday night at Radio City Music Hall.
Directed by Kenny Leon, the production stars Academy Award winner Denzel Washington as the head of a poor Chicago family determined to become wealthy. With Scott Rudin producing, it was the trio's second collaboration after “Fences,” which won Washington a Tony in 2010.
Earlier in the evening, Sophie Okonedo won the Tony for featured actress for her performance in "Raisin," and Leon won a Tony for his direction.
