1. 'Stolen'

Times Staff Writer
"Stolen" is about a puzzle that's resisted solution for more than 15 years, but that doesn't stop it from being a fascinating, adventurous documentary with a lively and eccentric cast of characters. The puzzle comes in two interconnected parts: Who...

3. 'The Last Kiss'

Two years after he was crowned as the voice of my generation for authoring the quirky indie platitudes of "Garden State," Zach Braff returns to the big screen this weekend in "The Last Kiss," a film that's sure to be compared to that earlier coming-of-age saga. That seems unfair. Just because "The Last Kiss" is about a somewhat adrift young man (Braff) coping reluctantly with adult responsibilities, dealing with his equally childish friends and flirting with a diminutive spirited pixie (Rachel Bilson stepping in for Natalie Portman) as an emo-heavy soundtrack blares predictably in the background doesn't mean they're the same ... Oh, nevermind. "The Last Kiss" is a logical extension of "Garden State," which should be a boon for some and a dire warning for others.

5. Movie review: 'The Last Kiss'

3 stars (out of four)
Tribune staff reporter
3 stars (out of four) An unmistakable air of melancholy hovers over "The Last Kiss," and it's not just because Zach Braff has finally achieved the ultimate hangdog expression. While director Tony Goldwyn's story of temptation, loss and love (lifted...

7. Fast-Paised review: 'The Last Kiss'

A cute college girl (Rachel Bilson of "The O.C.") tempts 29-year-old architect Michael (Zach Braff) away from his pregnant girlfriend, Jenna (Jacinda Barrett). Michael's friends have similar problems with commitment, and Jenna's parents (Blythe Danner,...

9. HBO's still got it — several of it

Carried on the shoulders of its miniseries "Elizabeth I" and its movie "Girl in the Café," HBO continued to dominate those long-form categories Sunday night, perhaps silencing — for now — critics who have questioned whether the network still has what it takes to make quality programming.

15. Hits — and misses — from the red carpet

Among the instant messages surely flying around during the Emmy telecast: Did you see Simon Cowell? Was Paula Abdul auditioning for a married to the mob role in that floral print? And brides-to-be group IMing their bridesmaids, announcing purple as their color.

17. Some actors win the battle despite having lost the war

Cancellation, low ratings and old age may have forced shows such as Showtime's "Huff," FX's "Thief" and NBC's "Will & Grace" from the fall TV lineup. But a halt in production couldn't stop those series from dominating in many of the Emmys' major acting categories Sunday night.
