Hedy Weiss, the longtime and indefatigable theater and dance critic at the Chicago Sun-Times, is to receive a special Joseph Jefferson Award in November in recognition of her years of coverage of Chicago theater.
The special award will be presented to Weiss at the volunteer committee's annual awards ceremony on Nov. 7.
Although born and raised in New York, Weiss, 61, has reviewed theater and dance for the Chicago daily since 1984. Her reviews also appear on WTTW-Channel 11.
