The season of musicals and plays coming to area high school stages kicks in to high gear this March. Here's what is in store:
Ferndale Area High School
"Our Town"
March 4-6
This year, Ferndale Area High School drama club members are going a bit more dramatic and serious than in the past with "Our Town," a classic play by Thornton Wilder.
"In the past, we have done mostly comedies," said Jessical Szymusiak, drama adviser. "This time, the students seemed ready for something more serious and dramatic to show off their acting skills."
Rehearsals began in early January, with approximately 30 students Ñ both cast and crew Ñ are involved

The cast includes: Brittney Wiesheier, grade 12, as the stage manager; Jocelyn Mattis, grade 12, as Emily Webb; Colton Dull, grade 11, as George Gibbs; Maria Carnevali, grade 12, as Mrs. Gibbs; Billy Bremer, grade 12, as Mr. Gibbs; Hannah Morris, grade 9, as Mrs. Webb; Jeremy Barber, grade 9, as Mr. Webb; John Kurchak, grade 11, as both Professor Willard and Simon Stimson.
Tickets for the show are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The show will be held at 7 p.m. March 4-5, with a matinee at 2 p.m. March 6.
Richland High School
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"
March 4-5 at 7:30 p.m.
March 6 at 2:00 p.m.
The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors will come to vibrant life at the Richland Performing Arts Center this March.
When Joseph, a favored son with prophetic dreams, is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, he endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged.
