  1. Movie review: 'Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!'

    Chicago Tribune Movie Critic
2 stars (out of 4) "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!" is a cute little comedy about a starstruck girl from small-town West Virginia winning a highly publicized date with a hunky Hollywood superstar - but I'm afraid the emphasis here is on "cute" and...

  3. 'DodgeBall'

Some years back, New Yorker critic Terrence Rafferty condemned the flashy, enjoyably trashy action flick "La Femme Nikita" with a single memorable sentence: "The end of French cinema as we know it." I filed the judgment away with a laugh, chalking up Rafferty's condemnation to high-art snobbery. Earlier this week, I briefly retrieved that indictment after enduring the witless "DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story." It's not the end of American cinema, but it may signal either the end of Ben Stiller's ambitions or the launch of a vendetta against his fans.

  5. Movie review: The Ring Two

    TRIBUNE MOVIE CRITIC
2 stars (out of 4) Some movie sequels—like the mediocre shark string that followed "Jaws" or the recent, appalling "Dumb and Dumberer"—probably should never have been made. "The Ring Two" isn't quite that bad, but despite some impressive technical...

  7. The Brady Bunch Movie

    TIMES FILM CRITIC
Friday February 17, 1995      Starting out as six single-parent children in search of a TV family, the Brady Bunch have turned into a multimedia conglomerate of daunting proportions.      Besides that original ABC series about the dad with three boys...

  9. A Very Brady Sequel

    TIMES FILM CRITIC
Friday August 23, 1996      They're baa-aacck!      Still frighteningly cheerful, still as out of place in '90s California as alien invaders, the "decade-impaired" Brady family makes its second big-screen appearance in "A Very Brady Sequel." Cute and...
