In 2001, she took on the role of artistic director with Anne Keefe as associate artistic director. Woodward revived the theater -- with the help of her friends and husband. He helped score one of the theater's biggest critical and financial successes, playing the Stage Manager in a production of "Our Town'' first in Westport in 2002, before moving it to Broadway (where it earned $1 million for the theater), and later as a PBS production. In 2005, with the playhouse firmly established, Woodward stepped down, remaining as artistic director emeritus.  « Show less
