  3. ABC 2011-12 TV schedule: 13 new series

ABC on Tuesday announced its 2011-12 prime time schedule that includes 13 new shows, seven of which will premiere this fall. 7. 'London'

    Times Staff Writer
Doing copious amounts of illegal drugs and seeing a therapist would seem a huge waste of money on at least one count. In Hunter Richards' tedious, claustrophobic drama, "London," which stars the attractive triumvirate of Chris Evans, Jessica Biel and...

  9. 'Thumbsucker'

Although the intellectual level of "Thumbsucker" is quite a few cuts above many teen angst movies and the film boasts several impressively nuanced portrayals as well, it is not sufficiently distinctive to stand wholly apart from the pack. Furthermore, its literary roots peek through rather too often in dialogue that might play well on the page but doesn't sound real when coming out of the mouths of actors.

  11. Fast-Paised review: London'

Big question: Pseudo-intellectual, drug-abusing Syd (Chris Evans) wants to win back his ex-girlfriend London (Jessica Biel) before she leaves the country. Would Mr. Mopey like some cheese with his whine? Skip it: "London" is a coke-snorting catastrophe,...

  13. Movie review: London'

    Tribune arts critic
1 star (out of four) An aggravating twerp of an indie, writer-director Hunter Richards' "London" is named not for the city but for the swank, relationally clueless young Manhattanite played by Jessica Biel, lately seen along with her biceps in "Blade:...

  15. Movie review: 'Thumbsucker'

    Tribune movie critic
3 stars (out of four) First-time writer-director Mike Mills has taken Walter Kirn's "Thumbsucker"--a witty, keen-eyed novel about a suburban kid flailing his way though an angsty life of school, sex, parental problems, debate and drugs--and made a smart,...

  17. 'Cursed' and 'Man of the House'

You don't get a lot of relationship-driven werewolf movies, and "Cursed" could very well kill off the possibility of it becoming a major subgenre. Christina Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg play an L.A. brother and sister who tangle with a mysterious beast after a car accident off Mulholland Drive and deal with some nasty aftereffects.

  19. 'Man of the House'

    TRIBUNE STAFF REPORTER
Classic Hollywood typecasting suggests that a Texas Ranger be played by either Tommy Lee Jones or Chuck Norris. And unless you're casting a lame television show, Norris' name immediately would be crossed off the list. So, it's Jones who fills the...
