The Big Picture

9. Neckwear sales tank in 2009. Which stylish star should stick his neck out?

All The Rage
On Wednesday, our Tribune colleague Sandra M. Jones reported on another casualty of the economy: men's neckwear sales. The upshot of it is, although suit sales rebounded to end 2009 nearly unchanged, the number of ties sold in the U.S.......

15. "Sex" watch: Fashion guru is back!

Not much is known of the "Sex and the City" movie, but one thing is for certain: costume designer Patricia Field is back and better than ever. After creeping on the film's IMDB page, I discovered a photo of the one and only Carrie Bradshaw, outfitted in a skin tight white dress with a massive flower. The dress screams Patricia. If you need more proof, just scroll through the credits and you'll see her there.

19. Suite dreams made for the elite and few

Times Staff Writer
What does $40,000 buy? If you're an average American, it's nearly your household income for a year. If you're a well-heeled traveler, it's one night at the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa, a two-story, 10,000-square-foot hideaway with a $700,000 cantilevered...

21. Review: 'Sex and the City'

IT'S IMPOSSIBLE to talk about the new “Sex and the City” movie without first mentioning "Sex and the City," the HBO series; or the rabid fan devotion it enjoyed; or the equally fervent antipathy (female and male) it inspired on socio-political grounds (sort of like the late-'90s equivalent of not letting your daughter play with Barbies); or the recently much-affirmed straight-male aversion to the series, predicated on cooties. In fact, the film arrives shrouded in such a fog of expectation, preconception, anticipation and (now with more post-Hillary bite!) gender bias that it's hard to see -- or write about -- the movie for the trees.
