1. South Bend native on the red carpet at Oscars

Alicia Powell put on her sparkly dress and her strappy sandals for a big evening recently. It was an evening most of us can only dream about. Alicia, who is an entertainment producer for Reuters TV, was on the red carpet doing interviews at the 85th Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

5. Oh, How I Miss Joan Rivers' Bad Manners On The Red Carpet

The Hartford Courant
I attended the Academy Awards this year, as I usually do. For the record I was wearing a gray T-shirt and a pair of plaid flannel pajama bottoms from the Ocean State Job Lot collection. I looked fabulous, at least that's what the person doing the...

7. Oscar guy MacFarlane aims to perk up stodgy awards

LOS ANGELES (AP) — You think the Academy Awards are boring? Try the nominations. They only last a few minutes, but it's generally a sleepy academy suit and a sleepy starlet droning a list of names at 5:30 in the morning.

9. And The Oscar Goes To...Argo For Best Picture

The 85th Annual Academy Awards were handed out last night and it looks like Ben Affleck’s Best Director snub didn’t ruin his film’s chances, because Argo continued its award show dominance, nabbing the night’s big honor Best Picture (which was announced by First Lady Michelle Obama). Overall Argo took home three awards, also winning Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing. As for the acting categories, there really weren’t too many surprises, with all of the frontrunners walking away winners. As expected, Best Actor went to Daniel Day Lewis for Lincoln (the first actor to win three Oscars in the Lead Actor category), with Jennifer Lawrence taking home Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook (and falling up the stairs as she went to accept); Anne Hathaway winning Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables and Christoph Waltz winning Best Supporting Actor for Django Unchained. Other winners included: Ang Lee, Best Director for Life of Pi; Brave, Best Animated Feature; Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Best Original Screenplay and Adele’s “Skyfall,” Best Original Song.

11. The Oscars telecast's rocky road

Last night's Oscars were like an emotional roller-coaster at a terrible amusement park--beginning wth Seth MacFarlane's as-bad-as-feared monologue, the show rarely rose above painful and hit few peaks. Allow us to relive some of the night's best and worst moments, not necessarily in that order.

21. 'Les Miserables': Looks like the front row ★ 1/2

I wouldn't be surprised if "Les Miserables" became the most popular movie musical since "Mamma Mia!" On stage, both diversions were, and are, easy to enjoy in their diametrically opposed ways. "Mamma Mia!" revels in Greece, glitter and ABBA; "Les Miz" wallows in France, sewers, good, evil and revolutionaries with fabulous hair.
