3. Movie Review: The Way Back

Frankly My Dear - Orlando Sentinel
Peter Weir's “The Way Back” is an entertaining old-fashioned prison escape movie with a touch of the epic about it. The novelty in this “Great Escape” is that the prisoners — soldiers and political prisoners — are on...

5. Chicagoland book club: The Darien Woman's Club

Unique things about our book club: The Darien Woman's Club started in 1970 and the DWC Book Group With Kids began as a social group within our club when most of our members were stay-at-home moms with little ones. We now have about 20 members and we take turns hosting, bringing brunch dishes, choosing the book and leading discussions from September through April. In May we meet at a local breakfast diner to plan next year's schedule. There is always room for new members!

9. Chicagoland book club: Barrington Newcomers and Neighbors Club

One thing to know about our book group: We met because we signed up for a book group when we joined Barrington Newcomers and Neighbors Club. We were all strangers, and most of us were new to the area. We are in our seventh year, and although some members have moved and some new women have joined, our core has remained remarkably consistent and faithful. We have also become good friends through the group. We are in different age groups and in very different stages of life. We have working mothers, homemakers, women with newborns, empty-nesters, feminists, traditionalists, Democrats, Republicans. Because we met at a Newcomers club, we have lived all over the country and world. We read a lot of books about women in other cultures, or in poverty, or struggling through other challenges. We have fun. We socialize before and after our discussion. My son once teased my me that our book group must only read comedy, because when the women are over, all he hears is laughing!

20. Hank, you sexy devil!

SORRY, Hans Holbein. Hollywood is quashing the indelible image you created of King Henry VIII as a fat, paunchy monarch. Two projects — Showtime's mega-series "The Tudors" and Columbia's upcoming "The Other Boleyn Girl" — are turning the British ruler into a haute hottie, thanks to some royally stylish threads.
