Thomas Saunders

Thomas Saunders is the coordinator of the Carr's Beach Id Project at Walbrook Library. He is pictured in his home with a lot of Baltimore memorabilia. The 1992 drawing by artist Tommy Roberts called, "The Ladies of Jazz", features clockwise from left: <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB004162" title="Ella Fitzgerald" href="/topic/entertainment/music/ella-fitzgerald-PECLB004162.topic">Ella Fitzgerald</a>; Betty Carter; <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB002412" title="Billie Holiday" href="/topic/entertainment/music/billie-holiday-PECLB002412.topic">Billie Holiday</a>; Dinah Washington; <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB003897" title="Sarah Vaughan" href="/topic/entertainment/music/sarah-vaughan-PECLB003897.topic">Sarah Vaughan</a>; and Carmen McRae. The ladies were on the "Chitlin' Circuit" of black performers who played to black crowds.
