5. Seger Sifting Through Songs For Next Album

The term embarrassment of riches applies to Michigan rocker Bob Seger, who told Billboard he has about 75 songs to pick from for his next studio album. Seger, who fittingly will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at a ceremony taking place tonight in New York City, said, “I’ve got five (songs) that I really, really like, and then I’m sifting through the other 70 that I’ve got in the can. I could actually put (an album) out for this fall right now if I wanted to, but I’m just going to write a little more before I make a final decision.” The as-yet untitled upcoming album will be his first all-new studio collection since 2006’s Face the Promise.

  15. 'American Idol' Top 3: Which two will advance to the finals?

It's the "American Idol" Top 3 - Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez. When they are introduced, Jessica is rocking a purple ball gown like Miss America Barbie. So pretty! And Josh looks sharp as always. Phillip, whose style is fine, that's who he is - kind of looks like a hobo by comparison.

  21. Album of the Day 1/18/12: V/A - Urban Cowboy Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

I don't own a lot of "original motion picture" soundtracks. To be honest most movie soundtracks just aren't worth owning in my book. But there are a handful I own because either a) they break the trend and actually have more good music than bad or b) because it's a movie that I absolutely love. In the case of Urban Cowboy it's a little from column A and a little from column B.
