Downtown Sound

It's time to dust off your lawn chair and/or picnic blanket and head to Millennium Park for Downtown Sound. The free indie, rock and pop music series taking place Monday nights through July 30 includes performances by Cloud Cult, the Sadies, Jonathan Richman and Charles Bradley. The lineup this Monday will be Chicago-claimed (originally from Atlanta) singer and songwriter Kelly Hogan, above, and alternative rock band Scott Lucas and the Married Men.

Why go: Downtown Sound is proof you don't need a big-ticket act for an evening of good music.

Reconsider: Only name-brand performers fulfill your entertainment requirements.
