Sands has been portraying Sinatra for over 20 years. He has made various television appearances and performed all over the United States. In “It Was a Very Good Year,” Sands will take audiences through Sinatra’s musical journey; fans will see him playing music as a young man with Tommy Dorsey before making his way to New York City and later, to Hollywood.
He’ll sing many of Sinatra’s best loved songs and take audiences to Sinatra’s “Main Event” comeback show. Videos and photographs will help make the show a multi-media extravaganza.
Scott Miller, Richland Performing Arts Center executive director, described Sands as a world class performer.
“Tony as Frank is unforgettable and the best of the best,” Miller said. “He is more than an impersonator and truly has Frank Sinatra down perfectly. Those who saw Frank back in the day won't be able to tell the difference.”
Some audiences might have noticed Sands performing at the Richland Performing Arts Center last year.
“He starred in the Rat Pack Show last year, when they came to the RPAC,” Miller said. “After so many compliments and by popular demand by our audience in attendance, they wanted to see Tony as Ol’ Blue Eyes again, so we decided to bring this brand new production to Johnstown.”
Tickets for the show cost $24 for regular seating and $22 for seniors and students. Tickets can be reserved by calling 814-269-0300 or by logging on to the RPAC website at www.richlandpac.com.
Proceeds from the show benefit the Richland Theatre Boosters. Miller said that the Theatre Boosters support students who are pursuing their interests in theatre.
“We hope the community joins us and spends their Sunday afternoon with us in the theatre,” he said.
