  5. Album Review: 'For Your Entertainment' by Adam Lambert

At last, an "American Idol" finalist with a personality to match the pipes. That was the nearly universal take on Adam Lambert when he finished second last spring to the bland Kris Allen in the nationally televised popularity contest.

  7. Hockey star Boyd Devereaux plays music mogul too

WHEN Toronto Maple Leafs center Boyd Devereaux caught a set from the Canadian psych-rock group Black Mountain at a Phoenix record store in 2004, he was so blown away that he let the band stay over at his house that night. The group was grateful for a place to crash but was taken aback by Devereaux's day job, then a member of the Phoenix Coyotes.

  17. Enjoying the ride

Taylor Hawkins is not a rock star. Well, he is--he's the Foo Fighters drummer, and now singer/drummer of Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders--but he's not particularly concerned with any of the typical "rock star" elements like image or money. After all, his band's name is meant to show cynics he's not capitalizing on Foo Fighters' fame to increase his own; he's just a Dallas-born, Laguna Beach-raised dude whose interest in writing songs sparked a laid-back side project.
While the band's RV was passing through Durham, N.C., Hawkins talked to metromix about his current Foo-free gig.

  21. 'American Idol' Upset As Kris Allen Defeats Adam Lambert

Minutes before Kris Allen was announced as the new American Idol, he and Adam Lambert sang "We Are the Champions," the 1977 smash by the rock band Queen. As the pyrotechnics sizzled and a large choir (including this year's other "Idol" finalists) backed them up, those two unlikely partners in bringing back heat to the long-running series had one last laugh together.
